Assoc. Ph.D.Sc. Fadi Almahariq, MD. specialist in neurosurgery

Member of the research team for neuronavigation robots Ronna and Nero, scientific associate of the Faculty of Medicine, senior assistant professor at the University of Zagreb where he teaches Anatomy and Functional Anatomy and is the head of the Anatomy and Functional Anatomy course at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation, he has represented Croatia at numerous congresses.

He was born on June 28, 1981. in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In 2007, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb and obtained the title of Doctor of Medicine. In 2008, he won the Rector’s Award. He completed his internship in 2007/2008. in the Zagreb Clinical Hospital Center, and he passed the state exam in September 2008. He completed his specialist internship in neurosurgery at the Dubrava Clinical Hospital.

In 2015, he passed the specialist exam in neurosurgery and obtained the title of neurosurgery specialist, since then he has been employed as a neurosurgeon at the Department of Neurosurgery KB Dubrava. Since 2016, he has been an external teaching associate at the Department of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb.

As a neurosurgeon, he was educated and trained abroad (Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam, Grenoble, Helsinki and London). He also received further training and specialized training at the Clinic for Neurosurgery, King’s College, London, the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London, and in Vienna. He actively participated in numerous national and international congresses and gained national and international experience in brain tumor operations, deep brain stimulation, pathology and diseases of the spinal cord, surgical treatment of interverteral disc protrusions and pain therapy, as well as numerous operations in the field of neurosurgery.

He is the author and co-author of more than 20 scientific papers. He actively participates in three scientific projects, and is part of the team for the development of the neurosurgical robot Ronna. In 2020, he received his doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb and obtained the title of Doctor of Science. Since 2021, he has been a scientific associate at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb and was elected to the scientific teaching position of assistant professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation. He is a member of the Croatian Medical Chamber, the Croatian Neurosurgical Society, the Croatian Neuroscience Society, the European and World Stereotaxic and Functional Neurosurgical Society. Since 2018, he has been registered as a specialist in neurosurgery at the General Medical Council (GMC), United Kingdom.
