Assoc. Prof. Prim. Dean Girotto, MD, PhD, is a graduate physician with extensive experience in the fields of neurosurgery and vertebrology. He serves as the Head of the Neurosurgery Clinic at the Rijeka University Hospital Centre, and is also a Senior Scientific Associate and Associate Professor, as well as the Deputy Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka.
Dr. Girotto’s particular areas of interest include minimally invasive surgical procedures, reconstructive spine surgery, and the treatment of painful spinal syndromes. He continuously pursues professional development in Croatia and abroad, with a focus on vertebrology and spinal surgery.
He is an active member of numerous national and international professional societies, including the Croatian Neurosurgical Society, the Croatian Society for Spinal Surgery, and the Neurosurgical Society of South-Eastern Europe. He is also the President of the Medical and Anti-Doping Commission of the Croatian Rowing Federation.
He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific and professional papers and a two-time recipient of study scholarships from the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County for advanced training in the field of medical sciences.
