prof. Ph.D. Svjetlana Šupe, MD, specialist in neurology

She has published a number of professional and scientific works indexed in Current Contents, as well as several chapters in professional books and textbooks. She is a member of a number of HLZ professional associations and the Croatian Medical Chamber. Her area of narrow professional interest is neurovascular diseases and intensive care medicine.

She graduated in 1980. at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb, she passed the specialist exam in neurology in 1989. After completing his postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, in 1990. defended her master’s thesis, acquired the status of primarius in 2007, since 2008 is a subspecialist in intensive care medicine, and in 2011 defended her doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb.

She completed education in EEG and epileptology, ultrasound diagnostics, electronistagmography, posturography, TPM for transplantation coordinators. Since 1996 worked at the Department of Intensive Neurology and Cerebrovascular Diseases of the KBC Zagreb Neurology Clinic as head of the Intensive Neurological Treatment Unit and as a mentor for subspecialization in Intensive Neurology. She was a lecturer and a member of the organizing committee of a number of postgraduate courses in continuing education for many years, and an active participant in a number of domestic and international symposia and congresses.

Author of a number of scientific and professional papers published in indexed journals and the author of several chapters in professional books. Her narrower area of interest is the risks and problems of stroke and disorders of cerebral circulation. Based on many years of rich experience and knowledge in the treatment of such patients, she was a member of the consulting neurovascular team of KBC Zagreb and participated in the creation of part of the Croatian guidelines for the procedure of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of some forms of stroke. She is one of the initiators and a member of the organizing committee of the educational public health campaign “Red Dress Day”, which deals with the issue of stroke in women.

Involved in humanitarian work, volunteering for therapeutic riding for children and people with disabilities.
