Boris Božić, born on September 21, 1956 in Vares. Graduated in 1983 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo. Demonstrator in anatomy during his studies. He began his specialization in neurosurgery at the Neurosurgery Clinic of the “Sisters of Mercy” Clinical Hospital in 1987, and passed the specialist exam in 1992.
Now the head of the Polyclinic of the Clinic for Neurosurgery. He defended his master’s thesis “Effect of hyperosmolarity of cerebrospinal fluid on intracranial pressure” at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the University of Zagreb in 1991, and obtained the academic degree of Master of Natural Sciences in the field of biology (biomedicine). He defended his doctoral dissertation “Investigation of the behavior of the lumbar spine in dynamic conditions” in 1995 and obtained the academic degree of doctor of biomedical sciences in the field of medicine. in the title of scientific associate in the scientific field of biomedical science and public health.
The selection process for the position of senior scientific associate at the Faculty of Medicine is underway. in Zagreb. Since 2002, he occasionally participates in teaching at the postgraduate course in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb. For many years he collaborated in holding exercises and seminars in the field of neurosurgery for the subject General and War Surgery with students of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Zagreb.
He was elected to the title of primarius in 2005. Since 2007, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Kinesiology at the Department of Biomechanics, and since 2012. in the subject of gerontokinesiology. Since 2008, he has been participating in teaching at the Zagreb University of Health Sciences, in the field of biomedicine and neuroscience, and since 2014. and for teaching the subject anatomy. Since 2014. he was elected to the title teaching position of university professor in the field of biomedicine and healthcare, the field of basic medical science branch of anatomy. Since 2010. participates in teaching at the Velika Gorica Polytechnic at the Department of Anatomy and Physiology, and since 2011 he was elected to the titular teaching position of university professor in the scientific field of biomedicine and health, branch of anatomy. From 2018, he was elected to the title of university professor in a permanent position. In 2015. he was elected to the position of assistant professor at the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Kinesiology for the course of biomechanics and the course of gerontokinesiology. At the same faculty, he participates in the delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Kinesiology of the University of Zagreb.
Since 2017, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb, studying in English as part of the Human locomotion course. As part of his postgraduate teaching, he participates in the teaching of the same subject at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Mostar, and the course of anatomy and biomechanics of the lumbar spine. He collaborated in four scientific research projects supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Croatia. Zagreb Participated in several educational meetings abroad organized by the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ESPN) in 1996 in Austria, 1997 in Germany and 1998 in Italy. He participated in numerous domestic and foreign scientific and professional meetings.
As a member of the organizing committee, he actively participated in the organization of the Third Croatian Congress of Neurosurgery in June 2002, and in the organization of the 9th Congress of Endoscopic Surgery in Osijek in 2008, in the organization of the 11th Congress of Endoscopic Surgery in Sl. Brod in 2012. He published 135 scientific and professional papers and congress reports in domestic and foreign journals. As a co-author, he participated in the creation of five peer-reviewed books and five expert scripts. since 2010, he has held the position of vice-president, he is a member of the Croatian Society for Neuroscience, the Croatian Catholic Medical Society and the Society of Forensic Experts.
He is one of the founders of SENS – Association of South-Eastern European Neurosurgeons. He is married and the father of two children. During the Homeland War, as a specialist neurosurgeon, he participated in the work of the Slavonski Brod and Velika Gorica War Hospitals. He is a Croatian veteran and volunteer of the Homeland War. He is the recipient of two charters of the Croatian Medical Association for the advancement of the medical profession.
