Prim. Dr. DC Petra Margetić, MD, Specialist in Radiology and Ultrasound

She is a member of the Croatian Medical Chamber and the Croatian Medical Association – Radiological and Vertebrological Society. She is also a member of the European Society of Radiology and the European Musculoskeletal Radiology Society. She is part of the publishing team of EC Orthopaedics.

Dr. Petra Margetić graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb in 1992. She completed her internship at the Clinic for Traumatology in Zagreb in 1993 and passed the professional exam. From 1993 to 1997, she worked as a senior expert advisor in the recruitment commission in the Ministry of Defense. She completed postgraduate studies in “Ultrasound in Medicine” in 1995. Since 1997, she has been working at the Clinic for Traumatology in Zagreb. She began her specialization in radiology in 1997 and passed the specialist exam in 2001 at the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, University Hospital Sestre Milosrdnice. In September 2002, she defended her master’s thesis entitled “Comparison of Ultrasonographic Diagnosis and Intraoperative Findings of Achilles Tendon Rupture” at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb.

In 2006, she further specialized in musculoskeletal radiology at MUSC, Charleston, South Carolina, USA. In May 2011, she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “The Impact of Provocative Discography on the Outcome of Surgical Treatment of Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain” at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb. In 2012, she was awarded the title of Primarius and the subspecialty of Ultrasound.

As of the fall of 2022, she is a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Croatian Catholic University, as the course leader for Radiology in Diagnostic Procedures. In January 2023, she gave her inaugural lecture for the position of Associate Professor entitled “Radiological Anatomy of Upper and Lower Extremities.”

Throughout her career, she has published about thirty scientific and professional papers and actively participated in conducting two projects. She has been a lecturer at over a hundred domestic and international congresses and conferences. As a collaborator, she co-authored a chapter entitled “Treatment of Tendon Ruptures” in the medical textbook “Sports Medicine,” written by Marko Pećina and Stjepan Heimer. She has reviewed over a hundred professional and scientific papers. Since 2018, she has been the head of the Department of Traumatological Radiology at the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, University Hospital Sestre Milosrdnice.
