Electromyography (EMG)
Electromyography is a medical test used to evaluate nerve fiber function and muscle properties. Electromyography actually involves testing the flow of electrical energy through a muscle.
An electromyographic examination can be performed in two ways.
The first is through needles that are injected into the muscle and the strength of the electric current is measured. This procedure is called invasive electromyography.
Another way to perform an electromyographic examination is to perform a non-invasive electromyographic examination.
The third way to conduct an electromyographic examination is the use of needle-stroke electromyography.
An electromyographic examination provides information on the strength, speed and quality of muscle contraction and the strength of muscle tone.
.The ideal candidate for an electromyographic examination are people who have symptoms such as unexplained muscle pain and weakness or muscle disorders, such as some neuromuscular diseases and myopathies.
